Agfa HealthCare announces today that it has signed a new agreement with hospital group Santiz to implement its Dose management solution powered by DOSE* at the group’s Regional Streekziekenhuis Koningin Beatrix hospital (SKB) and Slingeland hospital sites. The software will support Santiz to comply with the European directives to protect patients against the risks of the exposure to ionizing radiation and to achieve its ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) goals for patient radiation dose.

“Radiation dose is an issue for everyone involved in the patient’s care. Our dose management system provides information to help protect patients undergoing medical radiodiagnostic,” comments Erik van Rijn, Business Manager Growth Initiatives Europe and International IT at Agfa HealthCare. “We are proud that the Santiz group has chosen Agfa HealthCare’s Dose management solution to support its compliance with the recent European guidelines and to advance its constant safety and quality improvement goals.”

“Controlling and reducing patient imaging radiation exposure is a priority at our hospitals,” comments Bauke van Bolhuis, medical physicist of Santiz. “The Dose management solution gives our medical physics experts and caregivers a key tool to help assure our patients’ safety and to improve the quality of our imaging environment. And the clinical audit provides a pro-active solution to labor-intensive regulatory compliance monitoring.”
